I am all set with my trades for the First Maryland Meet N Greet Stockpile Exchange. I am beyond thrilled as this was always one of my goals. I was the main mover and shaker to get a large stockpile exchange organized.
Can't wait to hear what you traded and what you got! I have never done it and never thought it would turn out well but you seem to make out great! Do you ever come home with stuff you left with?
No, stockpile exchanges dont work that way...you make trades in advance :-) There is FB page where people post pics of what they have UFT and what they are ISO. People had 4 weeks to plan, post, and set up trades. So you bag and tag your trade items before the swap. I put all my trades in the free CVS orange bags that were offered the last 3 weeks at CVS. I did not want the bag back so my trades got to keep their bags . Maryland charges for bags or offers bag discounts so everyone was thrilled to also get a bag with their trade.
After you have all trades planned out, stockpile exchanges meet in a public place. I decided Arundel Mills Mall was best because it is centrally located and easy to get on and off major highways. Plus today was last day for Maryland tax free weekend so people could do their back to school shopping after trading. Once at the meet up place spot you pop open your trunk and make trades. Everyone brought 1 or 2 bags of extra stuff to trade on the spot in the parking lot. I brought two bags of various items for todays last minute trades and came home with very little. I had 12 trades scheduled in advance. 11 were fabulous, 1 sucked. The sucky trade person traded her expired food....2013 expired food. I was not the only person she did this too and I am happy to report she has been banned from the group. However, for the most part I got some really amazing trades for items I really needed. I am not exaggerating when I say every crevice of my car was jammed pack with trade items (trunk, back seat, and passenger seat). I got 36 rolls of paper towels, 12 large Tide, 1 Downey, 27 boxes of Hefty bags in all sizes (sandwich, snack, gallon, quart, 12 Yakisoba, 20 boxes of Capri Suns, different types of Lysol, Powerade drinks, tons of different types of sun screen, Bath and Body Works full size lotions, 9 boxes of cereal....and TONS more.
To end the event the admins of the FB group gave out a $25 gift card and 10 Baltimore Sun inserts from this weekend paper.
I had a great day at the event that I organized with the FB admins approval. Everyone could not believe how successful it. They could not believe all they stuff that could be traded at once. They could not believe how easy it was. They could not believe how fun it was. Everyone was hooked and the group is already planning the next one in October but in a different location. I am beyond giddy with excitement :-)
